The mobile soil erosion measuring laboratory developed by the Department of Soil and Water Conservation of CRSRI was successfully applied to the soil erosion monitoring of Pankou Hydropower Station of Duhe River, Hubei Province on June 19, 2008. This is the first soil erosion test equipment with integrated functions in China.

In the process of soil erosion monitoring, the soil erosion of disturbed and undisturbed soil with different types, slopes and rain intension was monitored by the mobile laboratory, and ideal test data were obtained.

It is reported that the soil erosion monitoring can be carried out by the mobile laboratory without any additional construction, not only a lot of manpower and material resources can be saved, but also the monitoring precision can be improved to a great extent. Especially the erosion parameters of disturbed soil and the erosion background data of undisturbed soil can be obtained by the rain erosion test of different kinds of disturbed and undisturbed soil, which provides direct gist for the soil conservation planning. The successful operation of mobile laboratory indicates that a great progress has been made in the monitoring of soil erosion and water conservation in China.
